Grown-ish Season 2, Episode 1: Better Recap

Happy New Year everyone! I am back and better my damn self with another show recap. Hope you enjoyed the holiday season so let's get into the first television show recap of the year.
Grown-ish, a spin-off from Black-ish took everyone by storm last year. Their content was relatable to every millennial who has graduated and are still attending college. The cast is amaze balls; young, gifted, and people of color. We start off this fall semester with Zoey recapping her freshman year and shamelessly plugging her sponsors in the process. Then we see the girls and everything feels great until the living situation is thrown out there. Zoey, Nomi, and Ana decide, like every new upperclassmen, to live off campus. They thought they were going to be living the good life. Well the joke was on them because like every off campus living facility maintenance is their last priority. But like the grown women that they are they decided to do what they know best, party...and clean up. This scenario was giving strong Living Single vibes and I totally lived.
On Zoey’s summer break she and Luca (I can’t believe they just changed a letter in this young man’s name and they think it’s all good) did the whole long distant relationship thing. Sis is better than me I can tell you that. But she made it work.

She felt so in tune with her man and his whereabouts until Mr.BLM himself, Aaron came in her dream world with some reality. Luca was back from Paris and didn’t tell her he was back. Relatable to my lovely (sarcasm) generation and our lack of communication. To his defense when you are single for a while or dealing with people on a situationship level it is not easy to transition into committed relationship. It’s easier to do as you please instead of worrying about the other counterpart. After typing that last statement I just realized how selfish that is...wow can we say self reflection. Anywho, Zoey goes to Luca talks it out and then boom a tired Luca misses out time to chill with his girl who has been longing to be with him for 3 months...no biggy.

Y’all know its a big deal for Zoey. Well she whined about it to her friends and they reassured her that she needed to work things through with Luca...well yeah, that’s called a healthy relationship. At the end of the episode Sky and Jazz come over to replace the bag of chips they bodied at the clean-up party and it's all good.

Like I said before, Living Single vibes through and through. Cute first episode for an hour long premiere. The only thing that was not rubbing me the right way was Aaron and Ana; I don’t know why but I feel chemistry and I know the writers didn’t write that in…go to the next post for my review on the second episode.
