Season 4, Episode 5 Recap

We left off with Molly telling Issa that this one favor was going to jeopardize her latest relationship...basically. I was bothered at the fact that Molly didn't even throw the idea in the air to see if it would stick. She just threw it out the window.

Issa put her pride to the side to get a life line from Nathan. Am I shocked? A little. Only because I thought she would speak to Andrew directly. Granted some might believe that Issa would've stepped out of line asking her friend's man for help...but he is the legit musical plug. It is not like Issa met him through Molly, definitely was the other way around. Not trying to keep tabs on technicalities, but come on people, Molly was tripping.

Molly second guessing her attendance is not shocking but annoying. Practically life long friendships are not thrown away unless a boundary is crossed. A boundary where someone feels as if they can't come back to being...well friendly or sister like for their case. From the beginning of this series the friendship between Issa and Molly has mostly been transparent. There was cheating and the entertaining of married men, but now there is judgement and projections being made. Since when did a friend that knows ALL of your secrets turn to judge you for doing the wrong they swore they wouldn't judge you for?

Molly has always been protective of Issa, but where is the support? Issa has always told Molly to live a little, but when she lives enough for all of California there is this shadow of judgement. Maybe I need to rewatch last season to see if the character relationships were on the brink of changing. From what I recall Molly showed up for Issa when she was looking crazy while looking for Nathan. Issa showed up for Molly when she had to deal with Dro's wife at a friendly gathering. Where did the showing up end and the shade begin?

Condola portrayed the characteristics of a woman with ambition and drive. I would never expect her to neglect a work relationship because of a personal matter. Granted this is no normal situation, but still Lawrence and Issa are not the same. It raises the question of how bad was the break up for Condola to wash her hands clean of both parties? Also, what is Lawrence hiding, because a simple "We broke up", would've been just fine.

This whole season has been engulfed with awkward body language, tones and actions when it comes to interactions between Molly and Issa. Their timing is beyond horrible and their egos are as big as Inglewood. They always have a blow up when their bubble is popped, but it is as if they do not respect each other to be

real. Being real does not mean be a bitch, lets be clear. The condescending exchanges are quite frustrating because neither one of them are capable of walking into the role model position in their friendship. They are both picking up the pieces.

Tiffany and Derek are the epitome of the dog sitting in fire meme. They present themselves as if they are okay, but baby nothing is good in their relationship. Basically Tiffany liked the treatment of being pregnant, but is going through postpartum because nothing is the same. Derek wasn't ready for the child, but he pulled up his bootstraps and is making it happen. Most likely these characters are based off of the ages of late 20's/early 30's, so F.O.M.O is going to be a thing. But being worried about a party instead of your new born child is alarming. Wouldn't be surprised if they divorce and Derek asks for full custody. Might be a reach, but the vibes are definitely off: they did a lot on Thanksgiving via social media to be unhappy in real life.

Kellie is someone I aspire to be one day. She has a career yet cuts the f*ck up on the weekends. She enjoys life and doesn't hold back on her personality to make others feel comfortable. The epitome of an unapologetic black woman. Now her forcing that accent was beyond me.

I can see why Andrew and Nathan are friends. They are sweet, caring and don't come with a lot of drama, just a lil bit. Andrew is working hard when it comes to Molly; I give him props because she is like a rubix cube. Nathan is just getting in where he can fit in, and it might be the wrong/right time. Wrong in a sense of Issa is confused on where she stands with Molly, but in the right to comfort her in this empty time. Losing a best friend feels like you're empty inside...trust me.

I saw this fight coming from episode 1. Just didn't think it would be during such a good time. Molly's sorry excuse for setting a boundary is unbelievable. How is telling a friend I won't help you at all setting a boundary? In all technicalities the boundary has nothing to do with current Issa, just the Issa that you have known and growing apart from. Issa is honestly hurt, but it wouldn't be an Insecure episode if Molly didn't cause some commotion during something special to her best friend. Whew, pray for them please because when it rains, it pours. I'll see y'all next week because I feel like Lawrence is coming with some mess next.

Insecure Season 4, Episode 4 Recap

Last week Issa disappointed, but did not shock me on the fact that she is all kee-kee with Lawrence. They did have a 5 year relationship. But girl did you or did you not tell Condola y'all were over each other? We all backslide but this is starting to look like a sticky one.

This week we see that nothing is working; Issa's water, her headliner, Condola, Molly and Issa's friendship...the list could go on but I try to keep this recap as brief as possible. I don't understand why Condola is ducking her responsibilities, very random since she is Issa 2.0 (you know the one who doesn't flake on the important things.) That was Molly type of shade because mama came with some trees this episode. I never understood shade, its a very passive aggressive way to throw shots...just say what's on your mind.

I saw the Twitter conspiracy theories on why Condola has been curving Issa's calls/text messages. I don't think she is the type to sabotage someone's event. She does seem like someone to distant themselves from the situation. Sadly she has mixed business with her personal life. Issa had her moment last week, but it wasn't with Condola. Condola also had her moment last week and it definitely didn't have anything to do with Issa. Hopefully she will pop up for the actual block party.

Can we talk about Bennett? Where do the casting directors find these men?

Molly is really trying to get her Joan Carol Clayton on but she has a man, a man who really likes her...like since day one likes her. A hard working woman is a great thing to be, but she asked for this relationship, she better act like she likes this man back.

Nathan had the audacity to do a Future-like check up on Issa. Not surprised but the way he left her hanging is just something she is mentally ready to deal with right now. I truly feel that she will deal with him after the block party is over.

Issa and Molly are still acting weird, no character growth here. Kellie and Tiffany are trying their hardest to be a village and raise a child, but all the other two care about is who is acting more weird. Both of y'all are bugging and need to just talk. The slick ass comments can be saved someone you care less for.

Lawrence really wants to be a father, but I think he is second thinking the idea of marriage and children once he had that heart to heart with Derek. Mr. DuBois has grown to be such a beautiful man to me. I wonder what he was trying to tell Issa about Condola. It had to be more to them just arguing in her nice ass kitchen.

I missed mirror Issa.

Issa tried it with Beyoncé.

Y'all see how I am trying my best here, this episode was so underwhelming.

The ending was shocking and uncalled for. Granted Issa should've sweet talked Molly to get what she wanted, but I am not the one to sweet talk people when I want something. Andrew was there the whole time, he should've been the first person to think of when it comes to finding talent. She could've DM'd him honestly and gave Molly a heads up. The relationship is in the trash...throw in the tile. I'll see y'all next week because after this episode I know this block party is about to be some mess.

Insecure Season 4, Episode 3 Recap

Highkey we saw this sh*t coming. I told yall it was coming, and we are all old enough to see this mess (Molly predicted) coming.

Dammit Molly was right...Didn't think I would see the day to be honest. Well before I can get into this moment of gloating, let's get into the episode.

Martin/Lawrence opens up preparing himself to convince his bosses that he is the man for a promotion. He later finds out that his plan will be put on the back burner. Why did it feel like that secretary was the dog meme where he's sitting in fire saying, "It's fine"? Chad never disappoints when it comes with the foolishness. Got a brand new car but no money to pay for the car note...we all know a few people like that. I do feel sorry for Lawrence, but he shouldn't beat himself up about it. Either move on or stay with a company that might fold, just that simple.

Issa, Condola, and Lawrence...y'all are not okay with this situation. It gets worse every time y'all interact with each other. Poor Condola, she didn't know what type of mess she was getting herself into because this is beyond "messy". At first I was confused on why Issa left, but then again I would've left too. Watching your ex and your new friend have a date is just bothersome.

Well finally Issa and Molly point out the elephant that follows them to any room they are in. The dialogue between them was intense though, I was expecting a "messy ass bitch/hoe" coming soon.

There were a lot of feelings they held off on each other, for a WHILE, that finally came out but in the worst delivery. The conversation, in my opinion, should've gone down that day. But, then again I try to avoid confrontation as much as possible because I am a punk...that's me though and that's my business. In that scene you can see they are sisters because a disagreement doesn't stop them from trying to enjoy Thanksgiving together.

Lawrence found himself being a classic man and mister fix it on Turkey day. That usually happens when you're trying to show off. His representative is poking through because last time that I checked this was not the same man from season 1. Guys do change, but it is sometimes for the next woman. Condola's friends are bland to me, but Nicki (the unexpectedly, expected life of the party) explains why Lawrence 2.0 is getting the not so interested treatment.

Is he offended he is practically being treated like a piece of ass with a dab of dates? Yes. Is he going to ask dumb ass questions to make a woman tell the harsh truth?! You bet. Will Lawrence make a rash decision which will drive him back to his old ways? Y'all watch this show, you know how it's going go down.

Molly's family is cute and realistic. Her brothers remind me of my brothers, but her momma couldn't be my momma. I would cry. Not surprised she is holding a grudge against her father, she is irrationally mean in all her relationships. Masika Kalysha as one of the baby mommas not surprising, but it makes sense why she stopped trolling Alexis Skyy. Molly's brother is so sweet to her because she was definitely going to mess up a game of Taboo because she's Molly.

I know a Kelli. The Kelli I know her family is lit as well. Trina and Kelli being friends is not a shocker.

The DuBois' Thanksgiving was ehh.

Wendy Raquel Robinson as Issa's mother is simply a breath of fresh air. I love Issa and Ahmal's relationship, it reminds me of my brother and myself. We don't like new people like that and don't like the bullsh*t. Mexican food for Thanksgiving is definitely on my bucket list now. Issa finally had an honest moment regarding this Condola and Lawrence situation. Momma is not bothered just aggravated; like any other woman who sees what the man can be but loses that man because they're tired of waiting. We all know she cheated, I am just trying to wrap it up with a bow. Ahmal was dropping gems this episode because baby Issa had about three epiphanies. Sometimes family will do that to you.

Issa's monologue about being with a man with potential had so many thoughts run through my mind.

Most women have the right to be bitter when they lose a good man.

Why do good women lose good men?

Lawrence has transitioned into adulthood, but is he really ready to move on?

Should Issa resent Lawrence and Condola's relationship?

How can she really want to work with Condola?

Lawrence slid in Issa's DM and I am completely not surprised. I told y'all asses that this negro was holding off on CCdola until he knew her true intentions. Now look at him, backsliding like the moonwalk...I can't. Y'all know Lawrence is messy, I know Lawrence is messy. I'll see y'all for some mess next week...bye.

Mýa...that was cute.
